Lynx Construction Ltd successfully delivered a full refurbishment of an adult teaching facility in the heart of Leicester, transforming an existing building into a modern, high-end learning environment. Spanning two floors, the project focused on maximising the potential of the space while ensuring minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.

Working within strict timescales and budget parameters, our team completed the works while the building remained fully operational — a testament to careful planning, clear communication, and robust site management.

The refurbishment created a fully purposed, contemporary teaching facility designed to meet current educational and regulatory standards. Key enabling works included the safe removal of existing asbestos in a fully licensed manner, followed by a comprehensive electrical upgrade and the installation of a new, energy-efficient heating system to enhance overall sustainability.

Fire safety and compliance were central to the project. We installed new fully compliant fire doors and constructed acoustic-rated partition walls that meet all current fire regulations while also improving thermal performance. These upgrades not only enhanced safety but also reduced ongoing building output costs.

Additional improvements included upgraded kitchen areas, a modernised lighting system designed to lower the building’s carbon footprint, and the full management of M&E works, including removal and refit. A purpose-designed compound was also created to effectively segregate construction works from operational areas, ensuring safety and continuity for staff and learners throughout the project.

The result is a revitalised teaching facility that combines performance, compliance, and sustainability — delivering long-term value for both the client and its users.
